When John the Baptist was locked in prison, he had heard of the deeds of Jesus. He sent word to him and asked “Are you the Messiah we’ve been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?” (Matthew 11:3) Jesus sent his response “the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor.” (Matthew 11:5) Jesus’ response says everything about His mission. He came in response to the sin and suffering of humanity!

I just love the miracles of God. We believe God for miracles, we expect miracles from God, but when they actually happen, they are breathtaking. They impact your life in ways that leave you astounded and amazed. I’ve had times when I’ve witnessed God do miracles and been reduced to tears; weeping over and over at the goodness and mercy of God.

Blindness, lameness, leprosy, deafness, death and poverty are all the effects of the fall. The effects of precious people marred by the curse of sin and disease. Jesus redemptive mission was to redeem humanity and that encompassed every facet of human life. He will do a miracle for anyone who believes!

In the early days of our ministry I was holding some meetings in Lexington, Kentucky. A lady came to the altar for prayer. For many years her right eye had a detached retina. She had had numerous operations to have it reattached with no success. All she could see out of her eye was a green blur. As she came to the altar and received prayer the power of God went right through her like electricity.

She left the meeting the same way. When she went to sleep that night, Jesus appeared to her in a dream and reattached her retina, she woke up the next morning and could see perfectly out of her right eye. Jesus opens blind eyes!

One of my favorite worship songs is one they sing in South Africa, translated into English it reads: “I will not suffer, I will not beg for bread, the God of miracles is my Father.” Today I want to encourage you, the God of miracles is your Father! You have a wonderful relationship with the One who opens the eyes of the blind! He will do miracles for you!
