Many of us know the Scripture, “God works all things together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purposes.” (Romans 8:28) God is ultimately Sovereign in our lives. Many things can happen which seem like God is not in control but in reality, He ultimately is, we just don’t see it or know it our lives just yet!

The story Joseph is a continual source of inspiration for me. He was sold into slavery by his own family. Then he was unjustly thrown into prison by his master. When it came to the time of the fulfillment of God’s promises for His life, and he was raised to a great place of prominence in the land of Egypt, he said to his brothers “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.” (Genesis 50:20)

It’s just incredible to me to think that there were so many forces at work in Joseph’s life intent on taking him the opposite direction that God had spoken and yet God used all of those things to develop and shape his character for the time of fulfillment. Psalm 105:19 tells us “Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the Lord tested Josephs character.”

Even people who had evil intentions, people who were determined to destroy and crush him were all used by God to fulfill His purposes. Sometimes we wonder in the midst of life’s trials “God where are you? What is happening? What are you doing?” Today I want to encourage you, God is at work propelling you! He is working all things together for your good!

He will use the most difficult things to fulfill his plans and purposes in your life. You just have to stay with God, keep loving God and as you do, eventually you will see His hand move. An old missionary friend once told me, when you can’t see God’s hand, you can trust His heart. And that’s true today, whether you see it or not right now, God is a good God. You might not see it all right now, but He is at work!

And you can be sure as a believer there are spiritual forces at work to harm you. John 10:10 tells us “The their comes to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come that they might have life, and have it abundantly.” You can trust that no matter what happens to you in life, it is always God’s will to bring you into a place where you can have abundant life. Whatever you are faced with today I want to encourage you, God is at work using all of those things for your good!
