I remember years ago someone shared with me a Rick Joyner prophecy that God would bring preachers from New Zealand who would travel all across America bringing the “New Zeal” of the Spirit of God to that nation. When I was first impacted with the Fire of the Holy Spirit, I was set on fire and radically transformed. I felt so much zeal and passion for the things of God. It has been my great honor to bring some of that “New Zeal” from New Zealand to Churches all across America. The Fire of the Holy Spirit brings a zeal, boldness and passion for God to our lives, that nothing else can bring. What is the Fire of the Holy Spirit? Let me share a few thoughts with you today.

Firstly let me be clear the Fire of God’s Presence is the Presence of God Himself; the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit works with believers here on the earth. He comes like He did to the early Church in Acts Chapter 2 as tongues of fire that “separated and came to rest on each of them.” (Acts 2:3)

What is the Fire of the Holy Spirit? It is the fierce and passionate love of God. Song of Solomon 8:6 tells us “Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is as strong as death, jealousy as cruel as the grave, its flames are a flame of fire, a most vehement flame.” God’s love for us burns like a jealous flame. God loves us more than we will ever know and it’s as we encounter the Fire of the Holy Spirit, we begin to understand the depths of His love and His passion for us!

What is the fire of the Holy Spirit? It is a zeal for the house of God. Remember Jesus ran through the temple turning over the money changers tables in Matthew 21. Jesus quoted Isaiah 56:7 and said “My house shall be called a house of prayer, but you are making it a den of robbers.”(Mat. 21:13) Jesus anger reflected His passion for the House of God. God’s passion is for souls and prayer for the nations! The fire of the Holy Spirit brings a realignment in our lives with the plans and purposes of God.

What is the Fire of the Holy Spirit? It is the purifying, sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. The refining fire detailed in Malachi 3:2 “But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap.” Jesus comes to Baptize us with the Holy Spirit and Fire and “His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” (Matthew 3:12) He comes to separate sin in our hearts and lives, purify us and consume us with Holy Fire.

What is the fire of the Holy Spirit? It is a hunger for the things of God. Matthew 5:6 says “Blessed are they that hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled!” The Fire of the Holy Spirit releases a great hunger for righteousness and a passion for God in our lives. The Fire of the Holy Spirit is an all consuming flame, an excitement that Jesus is alive. It is the restoration of our first love for Jesus and the things of God!

There are so many more things I could say to you today about the Fire of the Holy Spirit, but today I’m believing that the Fire of the Holy Spirit will begin to burn in your heart. I’m believing that Jesus Himself will draw near to you and set you ablaze. This Friday I want to encourage you to allow the Spirit of God to set you on fire again, to accelerate and bring you into all God has for you!
