Ihave a Pastor friend in Lagrange, Kentucky who as well as Pastoring a Church, had a wonderful healing ministry. He would send out prayers cloths all over America for people in need. One prayer cloth was sent to a US soldier in Iraq who put the prayer cloth in his pocket. He later shared that in one particular battle everyone in his foxhole was killed and he was the only one who survived. What a story of God’s supernatural protection. This soldiers’ angels were working overtime!

Ephesians 6:13 tells us “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand, stand.” Like the soldier in the foxhole, we need to be covered with supernatural protection, stay where God posts us and stand in that place without moving! It’s easy to just give up and run away, but the Bible says we need to be those who continue to stand, look the enemy in the eye and refuse to be moved!

There may be bullets flying around and all kinds of attack and opposition, but we need to be those who are willing to be obedient to God even when it’s difficult! When soldiers are trained, they are taught to obey orders under extreme conditions. Their training officers know that they have to prepare them for the heat of battle and they need to be those who are willing to obey orders even when their life is at stake.

2 Timothy 2:3-5 says “Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.” Paul was beaten, stoned and shipwrecked but he never left his post. When he wrote to Timothy, he was encouraging him, ‘you may go through difficult times but stay true to what God has called you to do.’ No breakthrough comes without some opposition!

When I think of the Children of Israel, God took them out into the desert, they had no water or food to sustain them, they stepped out into the unknownn and obeyed God. And yes they had times when they doubted God, but their clothes never wore out, they were fed with manna from heaven. They stayed where God had placed them even in a harsh and unforgiving environment and God came through for them. And God will come through for you!

Today God may have you working in a bank or a school, some business or educational institution. God may have placed you in an environment that has presented some difficulties and challenges for you. I want to encourage you to hang in there, don’t abandon your post. Continue to seek God for His leading in your life. You can’t quit now, you’ve come too far! Don’t abandon your post, you have been placed there by your Commanding Officer and you can trust that no matter how hard things get, He has your very best interests in mind!
