We are now right in the middle of Easter, remembering the death and resurrection of Christ. We are headed to Christchurch again this Easter Sunday, a place where they need resurrection power. As I prepare for the service, I have been meditating on the power that raised Christ from the dead. What a miracle. Christ was dead and nothing could stop him from coming back to life, and yet God had the final say and it’s not over until God says it’s over. Today I want to encourage you, that the same power that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you! When it is God’s time to move in your life, nothing will hold Him back or stop Him.

When God says something you can take it to the bank. Even if all of hell comes against you, and against what God has said; nothing can stop God’s word coming to pass. And I believe we are living in times where God has spoken so much, Christ’s return is imminent and some things must happen. Revival will come. God will move because He has said He will move.

And some of us have heard God speak and we wonder when we will see His word manifest in our lives. And just before Christ died he “took the twelve aside and told them what was going to happen to him. “We are going up to Jerusalem,” he said, “and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles, who will mock him and spit on him, flog him and kill him. Three days later he will rise.” (Mark 10:35)

Jesus predicted the exact details of his death and resurrection and of course everything happened just like he predicted. All his disciples heard his prophecy and when it all started unfolding, they ran and denied they knew him! Sometimes when the heat turns up we need to remind ourselves what God has said and hang in there when things get tough!

In Matthew 27:57-28:8 we read that Jesus was buried by Joseph of Arimathea. Pilate gave the order to guard the tomb because he was concerned “his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead.” And then they placed a stone over the tomb to seal it.

They made good and sure no one could get out of that tomb. And Jesus was dead, the greatest political power, the greatest military power, and arguably all the power of hell wanted to make sure he did not rise from the dead. The Roman Army was the pride of the Roman Empire, they had defeated all the known world. No one could stand before them.

Pilate was adamant and highly motivated to ensure that nothing unusual would happen. But God had other plans. Jesus had spoken, and it didn’t matter what Pilate said, what the guards did or how many stones they put over the tomb, God’s word had to come to pass. When God decided to act “there was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.” (Matthew 28:2-4)

God was not intimidated by opposition, politicians, soldiers, demons, religion, unbelief, even death itself! And there was no one praying for Christ to rise from the dead, only God the Father believed. Sometimes God does things because He has to be true to Himself. He is faithful when we are not. When we feel like giving up He never gives up on us. In this case God was saying He was not giving up on the whole human race!

And today God does not necessarily need any help from us. Sometimes our best efforts to stop Him, just make it a bit more of a challenge for Him. And Pilate commanded the tomb to be sealed. Sometimes God sits in the heavens and laughs at our plans to stop or control what He has planned. Chapter 28:5 says ‘the guards shook, and became like dead men.” When God really starts moving everything begins to shake and the fear of God falls on everyone.

These weren’t fearful men, they were men who had faced death time and time again and been willing to lay down their lives for their country. But when God moved, they were faced with awesomeness of the power of God. God is not someone to be messed with! It’s not a smart thing to be standing in His way when He is determined to move in all of His power!

And today many of us need to allow God to have His way in our lives. We need to be encouraged that God can and will keep His promises and He will move heaven and earth to bring them to pass! I want to encourage you, that the same power that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you! When it is God’s time to move in your life, nothing will hold Him back or stop Him. Today I am believing that the resurrection power of God will touch every area of your life and you will encounter the unstoppable power of God!
