I want to spend a few moments today considering the issue of our thought life. The Bible has so much to say about this issue. Proverbs 23:7a says “For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” What we think and meditate on ultimately determines who we are as human beings. Our thoughts inform our faith, they inform the course of our lives, they become the very essence of who we are!

What we think about shapes our lives. What we believe sets the course of our destiny. It’s so incredibly important to guard our thought life. 2 Corinthians 10:5 says “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

What does it mean to take every thought captive? It means that if the things we are thinking about do not line up with what God and His Word says, then we reject them and replace them with thoughts that do. Romans 8:6 tells us “For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.” Our thoughts produce fruit. Our thoughts can produce life or death in our life, what a powerful revelation from the word of God.

As human beings God has given us this incredible ability to think and reason. Many of the great philosophers, scientists, and political leaders have shaped history as they have shared their thoughts. Our thoughts have the ability to compel others towards the things of God or away from the things of God. Our ability to guard our thinking, can affect our destiny and the destiny of so many others.

Today I want to encourage you to think faith-filled thoughts. Maybe you’re feeling insecure, full of fear, anxious or depressed. Many times we let our thoughts get out control. We need to capture those thoughts and focus on the fact that we are loved by Almighty God, adopted into His family. We can choose to meditate on His faithfulness and love for us, we can soak in His Presence, where there is fullness of joy.

I want to encourage you to take a moment and ask yourself, “What am I thinking?” and then challenge those thoughts that are not of God. As you do you will find your faith will rise, you confidence in God will increase, your faith will connect you will God’s unlimited power. Your thoughts will produce the fruit of supernatural breakthrough in your life.
