Over the years in the ministry we have spent hours traveling to different destinations for speaking engagements. In the US in order to get to some Churches, the drive is 20 hours or more! I remember once realizing the importance of checking my tyre pressure before each trip. Having the right tyre pressure results in better fuel economy, better handling, increased acceleration, it may seem like a small thing but having your tyres with the right pressure makes life a whole lot more efficient out on the road.

Each tyre is made with certain specifications (please bear with me a moment I’m going somewhere with this) and it is manufactured to contain a certain pressure for optimum efficiency. A tyre has to carry the full weight of the car, transport the vehicle from one place to the next and if it gets flat, it’s unable to function properly!

As human beings we are made in a similar way to contain the glory and presence of God. To be filled with the Spirit of God. As believers, we function best when we have more of God in our lives. When we are flat deflated, lacking the pressure of the wind of the Spirit in our lives it can create a drag on our lives. Life can be very difficult. We need to spend time in God’s presence, allowing our lives to be filled with more of God.

Even Jesus understood this need. He spent hours preaching, praying for the sick, ministering to the hurting and broken and he understood the need to take time out to spend time with God. Luke 5:16 tells us “But Jesus would often go to some place where he could be alone and pray.” If Jesus would often take time out to pray, how much more do we need to spend time soaking in God’s Presence?

Life can be so busy, we can be so consumed with activity, that we can neglect things like spending time in God’s presence and being filled with His love and power. Heidi Baker, a missionary known for being soaked in God’s power said this “”If you have God’s presence, you have favor. One minute of God’s presence can accomplish more than 20 years of your striving.”

Spending time in God’s presence can transform your life from being busy to being effective. From being deflated and exhausted to pumped up, energised and fired up for God! Being soaked and full of God can fill you with the faith and courage to believe God for greater things of your life. We were created to be filled with the Spirit of God, we need to keep our tyre pressure up!

Ephesians 3:20 says “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” Keeping our lives filled with God’s power allows God to work in us and through us to accomplish mighty things! Today I want to encourage you to spend time in God’s Presence, spend time in prayer and worship. Soak in His glory and as you do you will see God do amazing things!
