A life of faith is a life of stepping into the unknown. When Peter stepped out of the boat onto the water, it was something that had never been done before, He could see Jesus, but he was walking into a place of faith and the miraculous, he was stepping into the unknown. When God called Abraham he said to him: “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” (Genesis 12:1)

God spoke to Abraham and said in effect “I want you to leave behind everything that is familiar to you and step into the unknown.” That’s the way it is with God many times. When Jesus said in Luke 14:25-27 “Now large crowds were going along with Him; and He turned and said to them, “If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. “Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.”

When God asks us to take a step of faith, it involves leaving behind those comfortable and familiar things and stepping into the unknown. Let me say at this point when God leads us, He promises to be with us. You may be stepping into the unknown, but you will do it with God right by your side. In fact, many times its as we step out in faith into the unknown that we meet with God in wonderful ways.

Abrahams willngnesssness to step into the unknown paved, the way for the birth of the nation of Israel. It provided the lineage for the entrance of God’s plan of salvation for humanity through the promise of Christ the Messiah. Wonderful things happen when we believe God and walk by faith and not by sight. Sight tells us, it’s uncertain, it’s crazy, it’s impossible. Faith tells us, take that step, Jesus is waiting for you and He will make a way.

When I stepped out in faith in the ministry, I had no money, no support, very little faith, but I was determined to follow God into the unknown. I can say at times it has been a little crazy but it’s always been wonderful to have the nearness, closeness and reassurance of God. God draws near when when step into the unknown.

The eyes of faith look beyond the natural to the supernatural. To the unknown. It takes faith and trust to take a step of faith but it’s always worth it in the end. Abraham looked to God, he looked with the eyes of faith and he stepped into the unknown. Hebrews 11:6-8 tells us “By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.”

Today maybe God is asking you to take a step of faith into the unknown. I’m trusting God will give you courage, strength and the determination to do the will of God. Maybe you’re struggling not seeing God do the things He has spoken to you about. I’m trusting God to open your eyes afresh to day to see with eyes of faith, to look with the eyes of God and as you do, nothing will be impossible for you!
